in 1994. Rojas was recently elected to the Hawthorne School Board of
Trustees, and has been a Youth Commissioner for the City of Hawthorne since
1993. As a Martial Arts Master with a 5th Degree Black Belt in “Chinese
Kenpo Karate,” Rojas has held many records and titles, and most recently,
captured the 2001 IMAC World Karate Championship. As a teacher, he lends his
efforts to many other civic and private groups, as when he recently joined
forces with the “United Peace Officers Against Crime” to develop a one week
“self-defense and safety awareness course” for “Camp UPAC,” a camp for over
300 inner-city children Co-Sponsored by the LA County Sheriffs Department.

specialist, but his specialty is organizing Martial Arts Events. Alegria is

annual event held at the LA Sheriffs Academy; he built the “California
Dragon Awards Celebrity Benefit” in Hermosa Beach in 2000; and he

Century City in 1999. When Alegria isn’t organizing Martial Arts Events or
teaching at either the East LA “Salesian Boys and Girls Club” or the “East
LA Community Center”.
Chris Young
Vice-President
Chris Young has been involved with martial arts for over 30 years, 20 styles
and a few black belts to his name. Chris met Hugo Rojas in the late 80's and
helped him run with Hugo's idea of forming the California Youth Karate Club,
keeping kids out of gangs and drugs by teaching the self respect and
discipline of martial arts. Since 1994 Chris has been the Vice President and
had the honor of bringing in a family friend as the first chair person, the
late Tom Reddin who was the Police chief of Los Angeles in the 60's. Through
the years Chris has worked under Hugo and has helped bring in some other
amazing martial artists friends like Michael Dudikoff from the movie
American Ninja and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend Rigan Machado, as well as
Lee Reherman (Hawk) from American Gladiators to become the CYKC treasurer.
Chris was a Commissioner for the city of Redondo Beach for 8 years and was
awarded by the Mayor, Police dept. and Fire dept. for his good work, when he
left. He did make sure that the city was in good hands though and
recommended good friend and CYKC fellow black belt Kevan Hill to take his
place as a Commissioner for the city of Redondo Beach. Chris is now a
Commissioner for the City of Indio and always strives to move forward in
anyway he can to help his community and the youth in it.
Lee Reherman
Treasurer
Lee Reherman has been a recognizable entertainment personality for more than
a decade, now boasting Acting and Hosting credits in over 50 Television and
Feature Film projects; his broad On-Camera resume includes everything from
playing wacky theatrical roles for Disney to hosting hard edged “Muscle Car
Shows” for Speed Channel. But in recent years, Reherman’s economic expertise
and TV experience have been sought to host financial content on Television
Shows such as “PLAN B” for CMT and “THAT YIN YANG THING” for TLC. In 2010,
Reherman will be a series regular on SHOWTIME’S new series “LOOK,” & will
Guest Star on FX’s new series, “TERRIERS.” In late 2009, he will Guest Star
on “HANNAH MONTANA” on DISNEY, and “PRISON BREAK” on FOX.
